In depth

Verdict

A poor contest where The City Kid and Hatch A Plan look to have claims but WETHERBY PLACE finds our favour. Michael Wigham has had the selection in his care for its three most recent runs and the filly has gone well on each of her last two starts, making the frame at Lingfield and then here over course and distance. She has gone up 1lb for that most recent run, but she showed very much that she is going the right way now and we will take her to show a little more progress and score. The City Kid is in good nick, having landed a similar contest here before being just held from today's mark last time. In such a moderate race there is every reason to believe that she can again go close. Hatch A Plan has a course and distance win under his belt and has the ability from this mark, though this trip looks plenty short enough now and he is not one to trust on recent evidence. Roundthetwist remains a maiden after 17 starts and looks to have place claims at best, while Kings Topic is on the same mark as when scoring here some five years ago, though recent efforts would hardly have you knocking people over the get your bet on, and Wetherby Place is suggested.
