In depth

Verdict

A number of out of form performers in opposition and BUBSES BOY can be argued to represent some each-way interest against likely market leaders, Through The Forest and They All Laughed. The gelding delivered a couple of noteworthy efforts on the turf earlier last season and having had a recent run over course and distance, should be fit enough. A mark of 50 coupled with Michael Stainton's claim make him now of some appeal. Walter Swinburn's Through The Forest showed plenty of resolution to score at Southwell. If able to transfer that form to the polytrack, he has to come here with a favourite's chance. They All Laughed is a very proficient traveller in his races. He does not quite get 1m6f so the drop in trip is welcomed. Haka Dancer disappointed badly at Southwell so it will be interesting to see how he fares on this easier surface. Blinkers are applied for the first time. Valkryie put up his best effort for some time at Lingfield and will be in again off the same mark. Dazzling Begum seems to have found her niche at Southwell. She does not always find all that she entirely promises. Bubses Boy requires a leap of faith to fancy him though the handicapper has played his part this afternoon.
