Verdict

The last three winners have been drawn in stall one so low numbers look to have an advantage which could rule out last month's Goodwood winner Ruwaiyan and the Cammidge Trophy winner Naadirr, who has since finished last in the Group 2 Duke Of York. Tropics is another drawn on the outside but he's well up to this sort of class and should make a bold bid to defy his poor berth. PRETEND (NAP) has only run once on Turf but his exploits on the all-weather circuit entitle him to the vote. The winner of the All-Weather Sprint Championship at Lingfield, he can prove just as good if not better now switched to Turf and he's in single figures in the betting for the King's Stand Stakes at Ascot. Eastern Impact finished third in his only start at this level as a juvenile and he's developed into a smart handicapper so deserves another crack after reappearing to beat a huge field at Newmarket. The improving Divine won here in April but takes a big step up in grade.
