Verdict

It's perplexing that John Carr sends Gorgeous Annie over the water from Ireland after some unsatisfactory performances over shorter trips. It is hard to fancy her on a first jumps start but any market movement in her favour would be notable. Henry Havelock was three places in front of Acol at Kelso last time out and it's hard to see a reversal of that order home. Chris Grant trained the winner of the race last year and Henry Havelock has claims as he continues to develop his jumping. Magic Millie has reasonable flat ability and this will be a first runner over the jumps for David O'Meara. We'll watch her on this occasion but it will be interesting to see how she does. Ferdy Murphy knows how to get a winner in this sphere and Manxman has shown good flat efforts and if transferring that over the timber then he could be a danger to our selection as could Danceintothelight who also makes a debut over hurdles. BRING SWEETS is the pick for a trainer with a 36% strike-rate at the course. Although he has shown only moderate flat efforts, he has finished third in each of his two starts over timber and the trip and ground should also be suitable. Bring Sweets gets the vote.
