Verdict

My Immortal hasn't always fared well in big fields so we will take the novice chaser on with Kock de la Vesvre ahead of Tribal Venture. Venetia Williams' nine-year-old won well at Towcester when last seen and importantly has won at Uttoxeter before. The stable have scored with two of their last three runners and with the ability to handle soft ground, the selection can run a big race if his stamina holds out. Peter Bowen has a fairly strong hand with 2004 winner Take The Stand looking the best of his trio. He handles the ground and should be spot on after a recent outing over hurdles. Dead-Eyed Dick has proven himself over this trip before on similar ground so could run a big race at a big price although his last win came in 2005 and he has been out of form since. Plenty of these would prefer quicker ground so could be up against it; most notably Matt The Thrasher, Champagne Harry and Ballycassidy. Tribal Venture, formerly with Ferdy Murphy, has form on soft ground but his stamina has often failed when tried at marathon trips. It may be folly to rule him out just yet, however we are happy to return to Kock de la Vesvre as the selection.
