Verdict

The vote here goes to Sunset Light ahead of Kildonnan, Sommelier and Montecorvino. The selection looked very promising at this level when finding all bar the decent The Mick Weston and Victom's Chance too good for him at Chepstow on his racecourse debut. That experience looks sure to stand him in good stead and he will rate a worthy favourite for this contest. Turning to the others and Barton Legend is a half-brother to Barton Hill, who won over hurdles and fences, and Charlie Edwards to the winning hurdler Tobesure. Jim Old has done very well in bumpers this season so grant plenty of respect to Kildonnan, but Noel Chance's Perfect Match, despite being well bred for this game, attracted very little money at the sales. The Nigel Twiston-Davies-trained Sommelier is a half-brother to Winsley, who won over hurdles, while Montecorvino has shown more than enough in two runs to suggest he can score in a run-of-the-mill bumper. However, Sunset Light seems better than that and he can land the finale on the card.
