      Verdict

The ground here is likely to be more suitable for Michael Bell's dual Oaks winner Sariska than it was in the Yorkshire Oaks last time and she has to be respected but a better bet looks to be FAME AND GLORY, who gets the vote with Never On Sunday rated the best of the rest. The selection has been unfortunate to come up against Sea The Stars in his last two starts in the Irish Champion Stakes and the Arc but there is no wonder horse in opposition here and Aidan O'Brien's colt has an obvious chance on earlier form in the English and Irish Derby over a trip that should not inconvenience the son of Montjeu. Sir Michael Stoute's Doctor Fremantle has shown improved form of late in winning group races here and at Newbury but this is much tougher, while Henry Cecil's Twice Over has a lot more to do than when winning a Listed race at Goodwood last month. Marcus Tregoning's Mawatheeq has shown improved form of late stepping up from winning a handicap to landing the Group 3 Cumberland Lodge Stakes on his most recent start and he makes more appeal given his profile than John Gosden's Pipedreamer, who was a narrow winner of a Group 2 race in France last time. Never On Sunday was not beaten far in the Prince Of Wales's Stakes at Royal Ascot and would have every chance if able to reproduce that form but it is hard to get away from Fame And Glory.
