In depth

Verdict

Shernando, a decent middle-distance performer on the Flat for Mark Johnston, could be very interesting over hurdles now with Nicky Henderson. Claret Cloak beat all but the well-regarded Shutthefrontdoor in a Listed bumper at Ascot last month and should also have a future over timber, while winning pointer Desert Joe was well backed when second on his hurdling debut at Towcester in November. Sunny Ledgend won over 2m4f at Bangor 12 days ago and his rider's claim negates the penalty but CARRIGMORNA KING deserves a change of luck and can get off the mark today. Philip Hobbs' six-year-old has been unfortunate to come up against some decent novices in his three runs to date and made Salubrious pull out all the stops at Taunton last time.
