Division one of the maiden hurdle and CARAVEL is taken to put behind his disappointing debut effort over hurdles and land this. A progressive sort for Sir Mark Prescott on the flat last season, he was only seen on three occasions during the last turf season, where his ultimate target was the Cambridgeshire in which he finished seventh. Ground conditions at Aintree for his debut would have been totally against him and as a result he never jumped with any real fluency. The sounder surface here should enable him to do that. His stamina is also unproven over this trip but tight circuits like Musselburgh suit horses with that question to answer. Hi Big Spec brings some smart Irish bumper form into the race. Placed in four of his six bumper starts, two miles around here could just be on the sharp side for him as he was left looking rather one paced on some occasions in those bumpers. Ella Woodcock, rated in the 70s on the flat is a hurdling debutant of some interest. Alberts Story has winning form over Caravel, that being in a one mile handicap at Carlisle. Caravel showed a large amount of improvement from that point onwards and while he has a lot to vindicate his 160,000 guineas price tag, he can land this.
