Verdict

NEMEROSA may go off at short odds, but she can justify them, chiefly at the expense of Peter's Gift and Jeunopse. Nemorosa is a daughter of Pivotal and has been second on her two starts to date, without looking a likely winner. That experience could be decisive, and further improvement's expected. Jeunopse was slowly away on debut but put in an eye catching effort to finish just outside the frame. A quicker break this time around could see her in the winners' enclosure. Peter's Gift may appreciate a return to five furlongs after being tried out over six last time. Jaslyn is the most exposed, but not yet looked like landing a blow, and the only other one to have an official rating. Golden Kiss from local trainer Paul Murphy is the only debutante here. As with any maiden, market support should be noted, but we think this could be the last time in a maiden that we see Nemerosa. (Chris Cooper)
