A moderate opener where Picnic Party and Starlight Muse will be popular with punters but we will take a chance on debutant SPICEWOOD. John Gosden's filly is nicely bred and starts over an ideal sort of trip, with middle distances in mind for the future. The yard is known for getting things into full swing in time for Royal Ascot in a couple of months, but they can certainly produce first time winners in races such as this and she can maintain an excellent record for her trainer with his three-year-olds. Picnic Party went close over 6f here last time and should be suited by the step up in trip, and she can improve once more for that. She is respected, along with Starlight Muse, who switches here after two promising efforts at Wolverhampton in the past six weeks. If she handles this slightly quicker surface then she looks a major player. Najam is a beautifully-bred filly by Singspiel out of a Soviet Star mare and she is related to plenty of smart sorts from 1m up to 1m3f, so this is also a good starting point for her and she might also represent a bit of value despite the likelihood that she will come on for the run. Little else makes huge appeal and Spicewood is suggested.
