raced wide, tracked leaders, ridden over 2f out, kept on same pace
held up, progress 3f out, ridden and headway over 1f, driven and ran on inside final furlong, not reach winner
slowly into stride, always in rear
made all, shaken up 2f out, ridden out, gamely
pressed winner, ridden 2f out, no extra inside final furlong
tracked leaders, ridden over 2f out, faded final furlong
slowly into stride, progress on wide outside 3f out, edged left and headway over 1f out, ridden and ran on, not reach winner
raced wide, close up, headway to track leaders 4f out, ridden over 2f out, weakened final furlong
dwelt, outpaced, never on terms
held up, ridden over 2f out, never on terms

This looks more competitive than last year's inaugural running and History Book will do well to emulate stablemate Living The Life. Partnered by Ryan Moore today, Lamar boasts the highest rating and was narrowly beaten in the Listed Winter Derby Trial here last time. But she had earlier finished behind FRESLES (NAP) on the all-weather at Deauville and the French raider had gone close here in November behind Intransigent, rated 107. Pia Brandt's filly has to have leading claims on that form and should make a bold bid. The progressive Don't Be did not enjoy the best of runs in the Listed Wulfruna Stakes at Wolverhampton last time and looks a threat along with the returning Khatiba. The latter has won three times on the all-weather and should have the beating of the remainder, including Maiden Approach, on today's terms.
