In depth

Verdict

PROUD PRESENCE can go one better almost a year to the day from his debut; he may have most to fear from Very Edgy and Fort Severn. Everything went wrong for the selection on debut as he was interfered with in-running and then tried to duck out at the paddock entrance when seemingly in control. His subsequent absence suggests that he may have had his problems since then too but he displayed more than enough ability to believe that he's up to scoring today. Origami Imp looks the part on paper and needs a market check, as do Honourable Dreamer, Henry Hook and Maurisca but those to have run set a fair standard. Very Edgy went close at Southwell and can only improve for the experience and there should also be more to come from Coup Royale and Fort Severn who chased home Somersby before being sent to Punchestown for the Goffs Land Rover Bumper; market support for him would be particularly significant but we'll side with Proud Presence.
