In depth

Verdict

A decent prize has drawn a competitive field here and our vote goes to RAZOR ROYALE, while Role On, Sa Suffit and Camden George all have claims. Trainer Nigel Twiston-Davies has hit form and does well with the raiding parties that he sends north of the border. Razor Royale steps back up in trip here, but that is of no concern given that he has already won over a similar distance around the stiffer Cheltenham circuit. He seems to act on any ground and with the yard going well he looks the most likely winner. Camden George is a likeable big, imposing gelding, who came good here last time over 2m 1f. He has never won on anything but soft ground, but he has made the frame on a sound surface and cannot be ruled out now back up in trip. Stablemate Mill Side certainly does have conditions and trip to suit and is well in with Camden George on official ratings, so he too has possibilities. Role On stays this far and also acts on good going, and given that he is in-form after a Musselburgh success he is another with chances. Sa Suffit may find improvement for the step up in trip but ideally wants some juice in the ground, while Chief Dan George finally got his act together over fences at Catterick last time and now has to be taken very seriously at these weights. He looks likely to emerge as the most serious danger to our pick Razor Royale.
