Verdict

Shadows Lengthen made a very promising debut over timber here last month when coming from a long way behind and just failing to catch Danceintothelight. He wasn't suited to more forcing tactics at Newcastle subsequently and can do better. Connections of A BRIDGE TOO FAR went to £65,000 to acquire him at the sales after an impressive success on his hurdling debut at Wetherby. He has plenty of scope for further development under Donald McCain and can start beginning to repay the purchase price. Total Submission won a bumper and a maiden hurdle last spring and has been competing at a much higher level subsequently with his last four races coming at Cheltenham. He's probably the main threat though Quel Elite looked as though this trip would suit after staying on over 2m1f at Kelso on his debut.
