In depth

Verdict

This looks a great renewal of Carlisle's big race and many come into the contest with serious chances. Collier Hill is on a hattrick and is sure to have plenty of support but in truth hasn't beaten a great deal so far and this looks a much tougher assignment. Al Azhar battled on well at Thirsk last time but may be in the handicappers grip now, but Inch Perfect is definitely on the right side of the weights and will be fancied to follow up his recent success at Hamilton. Best value in the field though might well prove to be Serraval, whose form figures are uninspiring but who was unlucky in running last time out and would surely have gone close with a clear run. Serraval has fallen to a good mark and might just spring a surprise. The three year olds Affray and Murzim are both interesting but face their toughest tasks so far.
