The E-Lites Top Novices' Hurdle at the Crabbie's Grand National meeting at Aintree has been upgraded to Grade One status by the British Horseracing Authority.

Won by Malcolm Jefferson's Cyrus Darius last season, the move means 12 races at the big meeting will now be Grade Ones.

The Pinsent Mason Mares' Standard Open National Hunt Flat Race at Aintree has also been enhanced from Listed class to a Grade Two - as has the Oaksey Chase at Sandown in April and the Shloer Chase at Cheltenham in November.
