O'Connor right man for The Job Is Right at Cheltenham

Derek O'Connor is set to partner The Job Is Right in the Toby Balding National Hunt Chase at Cheltenham on Tuesday.

O'Connor only recently went past the 1,000-winner mark in the point-to-point sphere and is widely regarded as one of Ireland's greatest amateur riders of all time.

The Job Is Right showed his quality when fourth in the Paddy Power Chase at Leopardstown over Christmas and would have finished a clear second to Cheltenham Gold Cup contender Djakadam in the Thyestes Chase at Gowran Park in January but for tipping up at the final fence.

He was not disgraced in finishing fifth in last month's Boyne Hurdle, and trainer Michael Hourigan is delighted to have secured O'Connor's services for his Festival assignment.

He said: "At the moment he's a runner. Hopefully we'll get him there in one piece this year and we'll see what happens."

"Derek O'Connor will ride him, which is great, but the horse has to be good as well."
