Hurricane Higgins returns to the track on Saturday after an absence of 850 days

Hurricane Higgins, off the track for over 850 days, will return to action in the 32Red Conditions Stakes at Lingfield on Saturday.

A fast-track qualifier for All-Weather Championship Finals Day, the £25,000 event has drawn a field of eight runners.

Hurricane Higgins was last seen running in the Prix Royal-Oak for Mark Johnston in October 2012 when he finished tailed off.

Sent to Henderson, like several of owner Alan Spence's horses with a a career over hurdles in mind, the seven-year-old's best form saw him finish a close-third to Times Up in the 2012 Doncaster Cup.

Charlie Appleby's progressive Gold Trail is the highest-rated in the race, having won his last three, and is accompanied in the line-up by stablemate Pinzolo.

Gary Moore's former Aidan O'Brien inmate Triumphant runs, as does the David Evans-trained John Reel.
