According To Trev is likely to have the major staying handicap chases on his agenda after winning at Haydock on Saturday.

Having made a promising debut for David Bridgwater at Exeter behind Court By Surprise, he then fell at the first in the Badger Ales Trophy.

He put that disappointment behind him on Merseyside and connections hope he could be a Grand National horse in the future.

"He was a stone better off with Court By Surprise when you took Jake's (Hodson) claim into account in the Badger Ales and we went there really fancying him," said Bridgwater.

"When he fell at the first, the wind was kicked out of us.

"Because of that, Saturday was very sweet, he vindicated the faith we had and it was a very nice prize to win.

"He's been put up 9lb and I don't think that's too bad for winning a #45,000 race and it means he'll get into some nice races now.

"We can dream that he's a Grand National horse next year and other silly things like the Hennessy.

"As for this year, there's the race at Kempton (BetBright Chase) and the Great Yorkshire, races like that, all the big handicaps.

"He's got plenty of options and I just want to fill him with confidence this season. The owners like Cheltenham and he wouldn't be out of place in the three-mile handicap there on the opening day."
