Golden Horn made a promising return in the Feilden Stakes at Newmarket for John Gosden.
Gosden arrived at Headquarters hoping to leave with two Classic contenders as Faydhan and Lady Correspondent were both well fancied for their respective trials, but were ultimately well beaten.
However, in Golden Horn Gosden appears to unearthed a very nice colt for the future.
Settled at the back through the first couple of furlongs by Frankie Dettori, by halfway he had passed a couple of rivals on the outside of the field, travelling nicely.
Without Dettori being too serious, Golden Horn soon looked in command and the 2-1 favourite just had to be kept up to his work to see off Peacock, winning by a length and a half.
Dettori said: "We always thought he was a good horse and he won like a good horse, but he was still a bit green.
"I've suggested to John to go to the Dante, but there is the French Derby as well, so there's all to play for."
Gosden said: "He was a bit green early on, but he came round them well and did it well.
"He's a nice horse who has been working nicely at home."
