Realtra: Big chance at these weights

The Welcome To Yorkshire Ebor Festival is always a huge meeting for the yard – and a winner would be great! It’s very competitive though with such fantastic prize money on offer.

The DBS Premier Yearling Stakes is a race where a couple of horses stand out on form but there’s good prize money from third down to tenth and we’ll be looking to pick a bit of it up.

Vimy Ridge is the pick of my three on ratings but Tachophobia is a horse who hasn’t done anything but improve. Winstanley is our third runner with some fair form in maidens. I think they’ll struggle to win but it would be good to be in the money somewhere.

I think places could be the best we can hope for in what looks a strong renewal of the Pinsent Masons Lowther Stakes. I run Bimbo and Realtra who are nice fillies but realistically don’t have the form of the two at the head of the market. Tiggy Wiggy was obviously very impressive in the Super Sprint last time and it will be interesting how they ride her over six here but as I said I’d be thrilled if either of mine hit the frame.

For Gabrial’s Kaka to be at his very best he could do with a drop of rain before the Clipper Logistics Handicap although I don’t think the ground at York would be too fast even without it. He’s been running well in competitive races like this all year and is well drawn in six.

Parbold also has a decent slot in eight and Paul Hanagan rides him. He’s been gelded since his last run and I’ve been delighted with his recent work. He’s a horse we’ve always thought a lot of but I just want to see him run a race here.

Finally we’re double handed in the closing eventmasters.co.uk EBF Stallions Fillies' Handicap. There’s not a lot between Dusky Queen and Dutch Courage and I wouldn’t really like to split the pair.

Hand on heart Dutch Courage has been a little disappointing this season. We wanted to pick up a bit of Black Type with her but it hasn’t happened so we return to handicaps.

Dusky Queen likes the track here which is a plus and is capable of running well but it looks fiercely competitive – as all the handicaps here are.
