Wise Dan made American racing history on Saturday night when becoming the first horse to win three Eclipse Awards in consecutive years.

The Breeders' Cup Mile winner was named 2013's Horse Of The Year, Champion Older Male and Champion Male Turf performer, the same three titles he had taken 12 months earlier.

Wise Dan took the principal title ahead of fellow finalists Will Take Charge, who was named Champion Three-year-old Male, and Mucho Macho Man, who finished second to Wise Dan in voting for champion older male.

Wise Dan won six of his seven starts in 2013, including his repeat victory in the Breeders' Cup Mile where he once again comfortably saw off the European challenge.

Wise Dan received 208 of the 249 votes in the Horse of the Year category.

Europe's victory came when the Sir Michael Stoute-trained Dank was named Champion Older Female for her wins in the Beverly D Stakes and Breeders' Cup Filly and Mare Turf.
