Daniel Diaz is set to be crowned winner of the 2015 Tour de San Luis on Sunday after consolidating his overall lead on a sixth stage won by Brazil’s Kleber da Silva.

Da Silva attacked out on a four-man lead group inside the final 1.5km of the final climb to the summit finish at Filo Sierras Comechingones and won by two seconds from runner-up Rodolfo Torres.

Diaz crossed the line six seconds down in third, while 2014 race winner Nairo Quintana finished a further nine seconds later in fourth.

The result means Diaz’s lead in the general classification over second-placed Torres is cut to 1min 5sec, but with only a sprint stage into San Luis remaining, the 25-year-old Argentinian is almost certain to secure his second overall victory at the Tour de San Luis in three years.

Quintana will have to settle for third place overall, currently 1min 34sec back, having been repeatedly out-climbed by Diaz and Torres in the race's three mountains stages.

Mark Cavendish finished stage six in 101st place and is now 90th overall.
