Richard Fahey: Cast potential

Richard Fahey's horse-by-horse guide to his Friday team for Newmarket and York.
Newmarket
On all known form Diamond Creek can’t win the Duchess Of Cambridge Stakes at Newmarket. She faces a tall order but the owners were keen to go and we’re giving it a shot. I’d be over the moon if she finished in the first three.
We’re double handed in the Betfred Mobile Stakes. I was a fraction disappointed with Supplicant at York last time but he’s in great order and I’m sure he will come good at some stage. I’m very happy with him and any rain will help.
Eastern Impact won a big handicap at Newmarket and ran well at York last time. I don’t know how much improvement he has in him but he’s fit and well. Both will need plenty of luck in a race like this.
York
Muhaarib Al Emarat is quite a nice horse but the Cakemark EBF Stallions Maiden Stakes looks a warm heat. My horse will definitely win his maiden but will need to be pretty smart to make it this one on debut. He goes go ok.
I think the handicapper has given Ventura Shadow a chance in the Haylin Nursery. It’s always difficult to know where you are with horses at this stage of their career but she’s a genuinely filly who can run well.
Dolphin Village bounced right back to his best to win at Thirsk last time. He runs in the GroceryAid Chairman's Charity Cup Handicap because he’s not very big and I’d rather he had a low weight in a better race than a big weight in a weaker one. He’s very genuine and tries hard but stall 15 has done him no favours.
Skye’s The Limit has won his race this year but has levelled out recently and the handicapper has him. I’ve no excuse for his latest defeat and he needs to bounce back in the Acturis Handicap.
Las Verglas Star is drawn 13 for the Cranswick PLC Food Group Handicap which would be far from ideal. This is the worst race he’s run in for a while hence he has ten stone to carry but he’s a good, hardy, professional horse who you can never draw a line through.
Shot In The Sun is a canny little filly who tries very hard. She’s run well a couple of times before and we try again in the Electrolux Appliances Apprentice Handicap. I’d love to see her win for her owner who’s a lovely man.
