Rafa Nadal has fallen to No 10 in the latest ATP World rankings, his lowest position for 10 years.
The Spaniard lost in straight sets to Novak Djokovic in the quarter-finals of the French Open, a tournament he had won for nine of the previous 10 years.
In contrast, Stan Wawrinka moves up five places to world No 4 in the wake of his victory at Roland Garros.
Wawrinka defeated Djokovic to claim the crown on Sunday but despite that defeat, the Serb remains top of the rankings, with Roger Federer second and Andy Murray third.
In the WTA rankings, Maria Sharapova dropped two places to No 4 following her fourth-round defeat to Lucie Safarova in Paris.
Safarova’s Czech Republic compatriot Petra Kvitova replaces Sharapova in second spot, ahead of Simona Halep.
Kvitova's compatriot Lucie Safarova, who was beaten by top-ranked Serena Williams in the final, rose six places to a career-best seventh.
