Manchester United have been handed a transfer boost after Nicolas Otamendi's agent revealed that the Argentina defender wants out of Valencia.

He has been linked with a move to United since January, and his representative Eugenio Lopez says the centre-back wants to leave the Mestalla.

Speaking to Radio Valencia Cadena Ser, Lopez said: "Nico wants to leave Valencia and is going to do everything possible to achieve it.

"Nicolas told [executive president] Amadeo Salvo to his face two months ago, it surprises me that it is said that [sporting director] Rufete knew nothing. Or he lied or there is a lack of communication.

"In these cases the will of the player is very important."

Spanish newspaper AS also reports that United are expected to make a bid for Otamendi in the coming days, although it is not expected to match the player's 50million euro buyout clause.
