Brazilian flattered by Rio comparison

Brazilian international Dede, tipped as Rio Ferdinand's long-term replacement at Manchester United, insists nobody has made an offer for him. The 23-year-old central defender has been strongly linked with a move to Europe, with Manchester United reportedly hot on his trail. With Dede seen as one of South America's best defenders, Benfica and Juventus are also said to be keen. The player himself admits he is hugely flattered to be even compared with Ferdinand, but insists nobody has made an offer for him. "No offer has come yet," he told Globo Esporte. "I am glad to be compared to a great defender like Ferdinand, but I am only focused on Vasco. "I was at the national team when a reporter asked me if I will join Juventus. "I said I like them as they are a big European team, but at this point I am focused only on Vasco. "If I leave, it will be in a more distant future. Rumours do not affect me."
