Goals from Jess Clarke, Ellen White and Danielle Buet saw Notts County Ladies avenge last year’s semi-final defeat against Everton to reach this year’s Women’s FA Cup final at Wembley.

Ex-Evertonian Alex Greenwood set up two against the side she left year, as three second-half goals saw Notts County book their place against the winner of Monday’s semi-final between Chelsea and Arsenal.

PFA Women’s Player of the Year nominee Clarke got the ball rolling in the first minute after the break, heading Greenwood’s inch-perfect left-wing cross into the bottom corner.

Fellow England international Ellen White doubled County’s lead 10 minutes later, when her head met Greenwood’s free-kick, leaving Everton goalkeeper Megan Walsh no chance.

And midfielder Danielle Buet set up a potential Wembley final against former club Chelsea when her free-kick nine minutes from time deceived the Everton defence and nestled into the corner to make it 3-0.

County left-back Greenwood said: “It feels unbelievable. We played really well in the second half and deserve to be going to Wembley.

“I was nervous, I’m not going to lie. Coming back to a club I’d been at since I was six years old was tough mentally. I still have a lot of feelings for Everton but I’m a Notts County player now and I’m buzzing that we’re in the final.

“We have a lot more experienced players than Everton but don’t take anything away from them. They were solid in the first half, but in the end our experience told.

“The FA Cup is historic and for the fans it is so special. We did it as much for them as for us.”
