Man City keeper not setting his sights on Three Lions armband

Joe Hart is 'flattered' to be mentioned as a possible candidate for the England captaincy, but says he is not expecting to step into the role. With John Terry having been stripped of the armband by the Football Association, a decision must be made regarding who will lead the Three Lions into Euro 2012. Manchester City keeper Hart has been touted as a leading contender, with the 24-year-old set to be a key figure for his country for many years to come. Hart is honoured to find himself sitting alongside the likes of Steven Gerrard and Scott Parker in the running for the England armband, but claims others are probably more suited to the position than him. "I'm flattered to be linked with it, but I think anyone who's having a consistent run in the England side is being linked with it," he said. "There are stronger candidates than myself.

Concentrating

"I think there's a long way to go [before the captaincy]. "I've got a really important season, games for Man City and hopefully a couple for England coming up. "That's all I'm concentrating on at the moment. As long as I'm playing, I don't care who's captain." Hart has also refused to be drawn into the debate regarding the decision to stand Terry down, with national coach Fabio Capello admitting that he feels the wrong call has been made. "It's not really for me to comment." Hart said. "I don't know the ins and outs. I don't know what was said or wasn't said."
