Andrea Stramaccioni will step down as Udinese head coach after just one year when his contract expires at the end of the June.

The 39-year-old former Inter Milan boss could only guide the Bianconeri to a 16th-placed finish in Serie A, their disappointing campaign ending with a 4-3 defeat at relegated Cagliari on Sunday.

A statement published on Udinese's official website read: "Following a meeting between the board and Stramaccioni, it has been decided that the club will not exercise the option to extend his contract into the 2015-16 season.

"Therefore our relationship with the coach will come to a natural conclusion on June 30, 2015."

Stramaccioni becomes the third Serie A coach to confirm his post-season departure as Rafael Benitez and Sinisa Mihajlovic have stepped down at Napoli and Sampdoria respectively.
