Sheffield Wednesday boss Dave Jones has confirmed the club are in talks with Preston winger Danny Mayor.

The Owls have targeted young players over the summer and Jones believes 21-year-old Mayor would be a good addition. "He comes within what we are trying to build, like Rhys McCabe and Diogo Amado," he said. "They're players who will hopefully stand the club in good stead for many years and hopefully make the club money as well. "He (Mayor) would fit into that young bracket who will knock on the first-team door and make a big impact, and also be the future of the club." Jones also confirmed that Wednesday have ended their interest in Danish striker Niklas Helenius, while denying reports that he wants Irish midfielder Paul Corry. Meanwhile, Gary Madine and Chris Maguire look set to take their place in the squad for the Championship opener against Derby after training on Thursday.
