Millwall striker Ashley Grimes admits it remains unclear where his future lies next season.
Grimes is out of contract in the summer and has been on loan at Lincoln since October.
The 24-year-old has hit 17 goals in 24 starts to steer the Imps to the brink of League Two survival, and admits there has been dialogue with Millwall.
But Grimes is unsure if his loan exploits will be enough to earn a new deal with the Lions so he is having to keep his options open.
"We've spoken about a few bits and pieces, they've had a brief conversation with my agent," he told
skysports.com.
"But that's as far as it's gone at the moment. Nothing else has been said.
"I don't know whether it's positive or not. No-one's giving much away at the moment.

"I'm just playing it by ear and I'm a Lincoln player at the moment."
Millwall currently have Steve Morison and Neil Harris suspended while Kevin Lisbie (ankle) could be out for the season, so manager Kenny Jackett said on Monday he would consider recalling one of his three on-loan strikers - Grimes, Theo Robinson (Derby) and Lewis Grabban (Brentford).
While Jackett acknowledged Grimes is suspended for his next game, Morison is banned for two more and Harris the next three, yet Grimes has confirmed there has been no contact from Millwall about being recalled.
"I know they have a few suspensions and injuries to strikers but that's the first I've heard about me making a return," he said.
Grimes has ruled out a return to League Two next term, however, should a new deal not be in the offing at Millwall.
The former Manchester City trainee has been in prolific form during the first extended first-team run in his career and has set his sights on a higher level.
Championship chance
"I think I could a job in League One but I'd also like the chance to prove myself in the Championship because I never got a run there with Millwall," he said.
"It just depends whoever likes me and follows up their interest in the summer.
"As a striker, you always want to score goals and luckily that's happened for me this season.
"But whichever club I play for I'll try my best to score goals and do well for the team. We'll just have to wait and see where that may be."
