Hatters snare Boston striker

Stockport County have signed Anthony Elding from League Two rivals Boston United.

Stockport County have signed Anthony Elding from League Two rivals Boston United.

Elding has signed a contract until 2009 at Edgeley Park after Boston accepted an undisclosed five-figure bid for the striker.

Boston boss Steve Evans recently admitted he may have to sell in January, due to the club's dire financial situation, and Elding is the first to be moved on.

He had scored five goals for The Pilgrims this season, including the winner against Stockport back in September.

Other clubs were interested in Elding, but he feels he has joined a club on the up in Stockport.

"When I knew County were in for me, I was over the moon because I know they are a big club going places and I want to be part of that," Elding told the club's official website.

Elding's debut for Stockport is likely to come against Boston on 13th January as he is ineligible for the FA Cup third round tie with Watford.
