Defender Adam Thompson has returned to Watford after his loan spell at Brentford came to an end.

The 19-year-old featured in 10 games during a two-month stint at Griffin Park, scoring on his debut in the club's Johnstone's Paint Trophy southern section first-round clash with MK Dons. Thompson leaves the Bees lying 11th in the League One table. The youngster has made a total of seven league starts and three substitute appearances for Watford, all of which came over the second half of last season. Thompson also represented Northern Ireland twice in the Nations Cup during the same period, coming on for his debut as a second-half substitute against Scotland before starting against the Republic of Ireland only to be sent off shortly after half-time.
