Kuqi slams old boss Palmer

SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY striker Shefki Kuqi has hit out at his former boss at Stockport County, Carlton Palmer and believes the former England international is clueless when it comes to management.

The 25-year-old quit Edgeley Park for Hillsborough only last month, but the Finnish international admitted he did not enjoy his brief spell under Palmer for County.

The powerful striker, who scored his side's winner in the 2-1 victory over Watford, was unhappy at the way he was treated by Palmer and he feels that Stockport have made a mistake in making him manager.

"When Palmer came in he refused to believe I had an injury and threatened to fine me," said Kuqi.

"He said I didn't want to play because Andy Kilner had been sacked as manager.

"Palmer said terrible things to me and about me to the other players. The things he said about me meant I had no motivation to play for the club.

"He said I must respect him because he is the manager. But I don't respect people who say and do the things he did.

"Blackburn came in and offered money for me. But he stopped me going to play in the Premiership.

"I didn't know Carlton Palmer before this season but everyone knows him now because Stockport lost 11 games in a row after he took charge.

"And after every match they lose he shouts all the time about the ex-manager and says the players are not fit.

"But the things Palmer did in training while I was there showed he had no idea.

"I don't think he will ever be a good manager and I can't understand how he got the Stockport job in the first place or why they have now given him a longer contract."
