Rovers striker is reunited with Penney

Oldham Athletic have swooped to sign Doncaster Rovers striker Paul Heffernan on an initial month-long loan deal. Heffernan has struggled for regular first-team football at Doncaster this season and has started just two games in the Championship. Only last month, the 27-year-old's agent told skysports.com that he was looking to secure the forward a loan move away from the Keepmoat Stadium. The former Bristol City man has now joined Oldham, with the League One side fending off competition for his signature. The move to Boundary Park reunites Heffernan with Latics boss Dave Penney, who brought the player to Doncaster in 2005.
