Sevilla target Kanoute

Sevilla have added Tottenham striker Fredi Kanoute to their list of targets.

Sevilla have added Tottenham Hotspur striker Fredi Kanoute to their list of possible replacements for Julio Baptista.

The sale of Baptista to Real Madrid has left Sevilla chasing an adequate successor to fill the Brazilian's prolific boots.

The Spanish outfit have already expressed an interest in Shabani Nonda and Fred, and are now considering an approach for Kanoute.

Reports in Spain suggest that Sevilla have contacted Kanoute's agent to make the player aware of their interest.

Kanoute has already been the subject of an enquiry from former club West Ham United this summer, while West Bromwich Albion were also keen.

The Mali international faces a battle to become a fixture in the Spurs side this season but has been urged to stay at White Hart Lane by coach Martin Jol.

The Dutch tactician is keen to have four strikers in his squad and may not welcome the interest from Sevilla.

If Sevilla fail to tempt Kanoute into a move, they will have to draw up another list of targets after deciding Heerenveen attacker Georgios Samaras is too expensive at a price of ‚é¼10 million.
