Arsenal have denied newspaper reports that Jack Wilshere will be out of action until March.

Reports on Monday morning suggested the England midfielder’s ankle injury would keep him out longer than expected.

He had an operation last month and the prognosis was that he would be back in action in February – and Arsenal insist that remains the case.

An Arsenal spokesman told Sky Sports News HQ they are "disappointed with reports. He's doing well after surgery and he is three months away from a return as originally stated. There's been no setback".

Wilshere suffered the injury in the 2-1 defeat against Manchester United at the Emirates on 22 November.

Meanwhile, Arsenal have trained ahead of their Champions League game with Galatasaray on Tuesday night and manager Arsene Wenger is expected to rest key players as they have already qualified for the knockout stages of the competition.

Alexis Sanchez is unlikely to even travel with the squad and Wenger appears likely to make further changes with Newcastle due to visit the Emirates Stadium in Saturday’s Sky Live match.
