Martin Skrtel has signed a new contract with Liverpool, the club have announced.
Skrtel’s future had been thrown into doubt after he rejected a contract offer from the Reds last month.
The Slovakia international centre-back had 12 months remaining to run on his previous deal but has now put pen to paper on a new contract to stay at Anfield.
Skrtel joined Liverpool from Zenit St Petersburg in January 2008 and has made a total of 293 appearances for the club.
The towering 30-year-old defender was a virtual ever-present for Liverpool last term, featuring in 48 matches for the Reds in all competitions.
Skrtel follows Philippe Coutinho, youngsters Jordon Ibe and Jon Flanagan, and newly-appointed club captain Jordan Henderson by penning a new contract with the club.
