Goalkeeper keen to build experience away from Chelsea scrutiny

Goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois has revealed he wants a loan move to another English club before making his Chelsea debut. The summer signing from Genk has already been sent for the season to Atletico Madrid in order to build his experience and he would consider staying in Spain on another loan. But the 19-year-old is also keen to get a feel for the Premier League before making a first appearance under scrutiny at Chelsea. He told RTBF: "I think that before going to Chelsea, I have to play one or two years in another English team to discover the football played there.

Difficult

"After that, we'll see if I am ready to move to Chelsea. It's hard to say now." There would be no shortage of suitors for Courtois, who has earned rave reviews in Spain. He said: "At first it was difficult. When I arrived, I found myself alone at the hotel. I almost wanted to cry. "My team-mates helped me. I learned the Spanish language and all is well now." He added: "If Madrid wants me to stay one more season and Chelsea accept, we'll see."
