Striker confident Red Devils can compete on multiple fronts

Wayne Rooney is adamant that a tilt at Europa League glory this season will not derail Manchester United's Premier League title charge. Were the Red Devils to go all the way in Europe, they will have another eight continental clashes to take in. That heavy workload will be added to their league schedule, with there still 13 games to come in domestic competition. United are, however, a side that is used to competing on multiple fronts and Rooney insists a prolonged run in Europe would not be seen as a distraction.

Challenge

"I've no concerns about it hindering our progress in the league, not at all," he said. "I'm really looking forward to the rest of this competition. It's a new challenge for all of us. "There's no point being in a competition if you aren't going to try and win it and the manager has shown he is going to put out strong teams. "It would be great to be the first United team to win this trophy, and that's our aim."
