David Villa says being linked to England is 'very flattering', but he will stay at Valencia.
David Villa admits that being linked to England's top clubs is 'very flattering', even if the Valencia striker has no intention of leaving Spain at present.The Spanish international - who will turn out for his country against England on Wednesday night - has been strongly linked with a possible move to Chelsea in recent months.
Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez is also reputedly keen on raiding his former club for the prolific striker who has become one of the continent's most desired front-men after shining for the Che.
However, Villa, whose buy-out clause stands at a huge ‚é¼150million (£99million), says he is happy to resist the lure of the Premiership at present.
"The interest in me from English clubs recently is very flattering," said Villa in the Daily Star.
"Chelsea are a very attractive team for every player in the world. We're talking about one of the most powerful clubs on the planet here.
"But I'm not thinking about leaving Valencia. I am focused on succeeding here.
"The fact that my name keeps being linked with a move is great for me, because it means that my progress is being followed.
"But honestly I do not think about moving. I am comfortable at Valencia and I don't intent to go anywhere for now."
Villa's international colleague Fernando Torres has also been the subject of repeated talk of a move to England, with Manchester United his likely suitors.
However, the Atletico Madrid star has now revealed that he could have moved to Stamford Bridge following his impressive showing at the World Cup finals.
After rejecting The Blues though, Torres is now keen to cement his status as a hero to the Atletico fans.
"Last summer it was possible to join Chelsea but finally I decided to be ruled by my heart," said Torres.
"I want to have success with Atletico Madrid. I am still a young player."
