Hoffenheim have announced the signing of striker Eren Derdiyok from Bundesliga rivals Bayer Leverkusen.

Babbel makes second signing by landing Swiss international

Hoffenheim have announced the signing of striker Eren Derdiyok from Bundesliga rivals Bayer Leverkusen. Derdiyok is Hoffenheim's second signing in as many days after landing Tim Wiese from Werder Bremen earlier this week. Derdiyok arrives to fill the void left by the sale of Vedad Ibisevic to Stuttgart in January. Hoffenheim coach Markus Babel is a big admirer of the Switzerland international and feels he will be a valuable addition to the squad next season.

Complete striker

"Eren Derdiyok is a complete striker and he fits in perfectly with our concept," said Babbel. "I am delighted we have been able to convince him to come." Derdiyok is relishing the challenge of playing for Hoffenheim next season. "I am looking forward to represent Hoffenheim. There is a lot we are able to achieve in those next years. "The manager (Markus Babbel) recently already mentioned that we are out to go for a berth in a European Cup competition. I am looking forward to help the club do so."
