Rovers midfielder admits charge of violent conduct

Blackburn Rovers midfielder Steven Nzonzi will serve a three-match ban after admitting an FA charge of violent conduct. The Frenchman, 22, was charged following an elbow on Stoke defender Ryan Shawcross in Saturday's 3-1 Premier League defeat. The incident at the Britannia Stadium was not seen by the match officials but it was caught on video, which saw Nzonzi subsequently charged. The suspension starts immediately, meaning he will sit out Tuesday's Carling Cup clash at Cardiff City. Nzonzi will also miss Rovers' upcoming Premier League games against Swansea City and Sunderland.
