Southend starlet Anthony Grant is locked in talks over a new contract, skysports.com understands.
The midfielder has been at Roots Hall since 2008, joining first on loan from Chelsea before making the move permanent.
Despite being just 22, Grant already has over 100 league games to his name.
His current deal is due to expire next summer and now The Shrimpers are keen to tie him down to a new deal.
It is believed Grant is ready to agree terms on a two-and-a-half year deal.
