Carlos Sainz Jr. says he will realise his dreams on Sunday when he heads out onto the track at the Spanish Grand Prix.

Toro Rosso rookie Carlos Sainz will realise a childhood dream when he takes part in the first home race of his F1 career at this weekend's Spanish GP.

Speaking to Sky Sports News HQ's Rachel Brookes in the Barcelona paddock, the Spaniard recounts how he met compatriot and hero Fernando Alonso at the Circuit de Catalunya when he was starting out in karts and vowed to join him on the F1 grid.

“I’ve been looking forward to this day for many, many years," Sainz said. "I came here when I was 10-years-old to meet my hero Fernando Alonso and I met him and looked up to him. It was just when I was starting to race go-karts and it was then that I said ‘I want to be like him’.
