Amir Khan calls out Floyd Mayweather again in wake of Marcos Maidana rematch

Amir Khan has accused Floyd Mayweather of running scared after witnessing the unbeaten superstar's latest victory.

Khan overcame visa issues to make it to Las Vegas for the 47th win of Mayweather's career in the early hours of Sunday - a unanimous points decision in a rematch with Argentine hardman Marcos Maidana.

The Bolton man has been in with Maidana himself, winning a points verdict in December 2010, and narrowly lost out to his former foe in a race to face Mayweather in May.

Now it makes sense why the fight isn't happening between me and Mayweather. Is he afraid of the speed, explosiveness and power? Floyd - let's get it on!

Khan's commitment to observing Ramadan scuppered any hope of a September date, but on the eve of this weekend's fight Mayweather hinted a future superfight in the UK is still a possiblity.

And Khan taunted the great American in the aftermath of the Maidana win, saying: "After seeing him win I believe I will beat him.

"Floyd, as we all know, isn't the biggest puncher. His footwork has slowed down, he only throws single punches and gets hit a lot more. We all know Maidana isn't the quickest, and he still got through with shots.

Possible fights

Khan has rebuilt his career under trainer Virgil Hunter after damaging back-to-back defeats in world title fights, and an impressive defeat of Luis Collazo in May came on the undercard of Mayweather-Maidana I.

A fight with Britain's newly-crowned IBF welterweight champion Kell Brook is another possibility once the Sheffield man has recovered from injuries sustained in a stabbing in Tenerife.

And the prospect of landing a dream shot at Mayweather could be complicated by renewed calls for the five-weight world champion to fight Manny Pacquiao.

Speaking immediately after beating Maidana for a second time, Mayweather said: "I got to go back and talk to my team, I'm not ducking or dodging no opponent. If a Pacquiao fight presents itself, let's make it happen."
