WWE King of the Ring: Bad News Barrett beats Neville in all-British final

Sheamus and Dolph Ziggler clash again in Illinois

Bad News Barrett was crowned King of the Ring on Tuesday night after beating Neville in an all-British final.

The Preston grappler downed Newcastle native Neville with a mid-air Bull Hammer in Illinois after the latter had failed to connect with a Red Arrow, bouncing back from his Extreme Rules loss to The Man That Gravity Forgot in the process.

Barrett’s victory places him in storied company, with former Kings of the Ring including Bret Hart, “Stone Cold” Steve Austin, Triple H, Brock Lesnar, Edge, Booker T and Sheamus.

The one-time bare-knuckle fighter had earlier knocked off R-Truth to make the tournament final, shocking the rapping Superstar with a thumb to the eye before pouncing with a Bull Hammer.

Neville, meanwhile, advanced to the showpiece match by besting Sheamus with a head kick-Red Arrow combination – though he was assisted by Dolph Ziggler.

Ziggler, still seething after having his face pressed against Sheamus’ backside at Extreme Rules, rushed to the ring to distract The Celtic Warrior, the King of the Ring from 2010.
