Tottenham and England winger Aaron Lennon doesn't get the credit he deserves, Ruel Fox told Soccer AM.
Fox, who played for Norwich, Newcastle, Tottenham and West Brom between 1986 and 2002, believes that 25-year-old Lennon is one of the best attacking players in the Premier League and has equipped himself well for Spurs so far this campaign.
"Obviously I played on the wing and I do admire Lennon," said Fox. "He's a terrific player. When you are playing out there, there is a lot of pressure on you because you're the one who is setting most of the goals up.
"But the way that most of the teams seem to be setting up nowadays, there's a lot of fluency to their game and their not just playing on the wing, they're playing up front.
"I think Lennon's done well this season; I do like him. I think he's probably one of the better wingers in the Premiership at the moment."
Fox played in several of the country's biggest derbies including Norwich v Ipswich and West Brom v Wolves, but he told Soccer AM that in his experience nothing could quite compare to the hype and build-up ahead of a north London derby.
"The build up through the week - especially with the fans - just makes it more intense," said Fox, who now has his own fitness company - Ipswich Boot Camp - and is also Director of football at Whitton United.
"I started there as a kid so after I retired I always go back there and help out," he explained. "I started helping out with the senior set up down there. I just give them advice when they need it and try to help them if I can.
"I play but only for the old guys now, the vets team now which is over-35s. Sometimes I play against someone who is a little bit overweight so I go on their side of the pitch and then change over now and again!"
